This is so neat, a website of the Channel. I moved to Upstate NY 18yrs ago, but still visited there for quite a few years after that, spending the summers with Debbie Kurz. Maybe I will start hearing from some of my old friends. It would be great!!

I grew up in the East NY section of Brooklyn. As a boy I used to go to camp at the Broad Channel Day Camp. (BCDC) I spent some of my best summers at this camp. I went there from around 1958-1962.
I remember the "color wars" we had, and the buttons for the hats we used to wear.

This is a wonderful site. We were just looking at the pictures from the reunion, and we hope we will be there next year. It was a lot of fun to see some old friends we haven't seen in a very long time.

Just wanted to say that we were down while the plants were being planted and Flags were being hung, and the Channel looks beautiful. Great job everyone. Cathy and Kieran, you did a lovely job with the plants. Kieran and Ann your house looks wonderful! The decorations are real all American!Tara you were working hard too! Nice Job!

My wife and I got together with Ron and Barbara Reis in Orlando last winter. It was GREAT to meet with old friends again. If any of our other friends read this on the web site, then check in and say hello, Dan, Tim and Michael Tubridy, Chuck Geier, Frank Galligan, Bud Reis, Jim Gaynor, Artie Ruddick, etc. I've been out of touch for 30 years (except for reading the Wave) and need to re-establish contact since I never get back to town.

With all the wonderful things everyone has to say about our terrific town, let's pause and reflect on the loss of two friends who passed recently. Tom Mink and Lefty Mauro were among the heroes of Broad Channel who served our country well during the Korean "conflict". They were truly good people, with many friends who share their widows' sadness and for whom we ask God's mercy on their souls. May they rest in peace, Amen

The center mall looks great with all the flowers and plants.A short request, when the rain stops don't forget to get out and water the new additions to the town. The town is looking great with the new park on 9th rd which will be done soon. Lets also make sure that it stays in excellent shape so our children can enjoy it. It is being built for the children and we should not let any vandalization occur.

I was living on 9th Road next to Moran's Bar around 1945, and was born at Walton Road, in old Broad Channel, I remember the old Carousel, and St. Virgilius swimming pool, and the Long Island Railroad Ticket Office-our school St. Virgilius and the Volunteer Fire Department- more than half a century Plus.-I also remember fishing for the practise bombs dropped in the Bay-we used to trade them like baseball cards, until one of the "Canary Kids, set one off-and our Police had to confiscate them.

I lived in BC for 24 years, left in 1988 but my mom & sister still live there. I get back whenever I'm in town but now call Ft Lauderdale my home.
Anyone who remembers hanging out on the 9th road corner or partying in the PS 47 School yard on the weekends during the 80's - email me. I know Mr Channel Chat BG was there, Bugout 69, Cheif, Rat, the box???

Congratulations and good luck to The BCAC/STV Intermediate girls softball team. The girls managed by Rick Guttieri & Marilyn Ott have made it to the CYO Queens/Brooklyn Dioceasn championship game. They will face the tough Immac. Conception team from Brooklyn on Sat 6/28 1030 am @ P.S 213 67th ave & 233 rd. Both teams are undefeated. This team is comprised of girls 13 & 14 yrs old led by the outstanding pitching of Adrienne Guttieri. Adrienne pitched a 4 - 0 shut out in last weeks Queens CYO playoff game. The team has lots of great players. I will post the teams roster this weekend after they bring home the championship trophy.

In regard to the comments noted above,just a note!!! The girls WON the Championship by a score of 5 to 3.It was an outstanding game by both teams and both should be congratulated. The town should be very proud of these girls as they put us on the map in girls softball.
