Just wanted to tell everyone what a great time I had this past weekend. It was good to see old friends and make some new ones too. The Channel looks beautiful! Mardi Gras was a blast (from what I can remember....). The hardest thing for me to do was watch the Channel in my rear view mirror. I forget how much I miss it till I come back for a visit. Love you guys and I miss you already!!!!

I was born at Peninsual General Hospital and lived in Broad Channel from 1964-1969. My parents were raised in Broad Channel. Nice website!!

so great to see this site -
fond memories of Broad Channel -
used to go fishing there with my Dad -
he passed away in April and it is hard to accept -
I grew up in Brooklyn, married, moved to RHill in l965 and then in l970 left and moved to cny - my husband and I are married 40 yrs. and we have raised our two daughters here - and they attended college here too - and graduated the same year - and my folks were the children of Italian immigrants -- my Dad was a tile setter all his life (from l3 yrs. old) and my grandfather - and grandmother - came to NY on their honeymoon and raised all there children in ny - Dad was born in Brooklyn - and he and his family used to go to a summer place in broad channel and they were all great fishers and swimmers - my Dad still has a brother living and two sisters -- my Dad taught me how to fish - and we used to rent a boat in Broad Channel - after I got married - my husband and I bought a small boat and for five years we used to boat
near Broad Channel -- (on weekends) as we both worked in new york city - then when we moved up here - we bought our own home in l972 and got our own boat in l986 - and I have fished the Lake Ontario waters for salmon and bass - and my husband and I took the boating safety course at the College and it is offered by the Coast Guard - we live l mile from Lake Ontario - losing my Dad and now my 9l yr old mom is also ailing and misses my Dad too - it is very hard -- my Mom and brother still live in Ozone Park, ny and my first cousins all live on Long Island and some in Florida - my Dad always reminized about Barren Island -- so they called a place near Broad Channel - we used to go to the seafood places near Howard Beach -- we also went swimming as kids at Rockaway - and Jones Beach - and my Dad taught me and my brother how to fish - we also fished off the bridge too - I have some very old pictures ...enjoying reading stories

hi just to let you know there is a person who is shooting cats around here in B.C. I am only 10, but I just want to tell everyone because my cat got shot with a bee-bee gun two times. One in the neck and in the leg. And he is ok thanx

Granddaughter of William & Dorothy Mohr/ Conrad (Ray) Falkenheimer. Daughter of Dorothy & Raymond Falkenheimer. Its been 29 years since we all left Broad Channel, August 1976. Though I was only 7 at the time we left, memories still linger. Many memories of "the Marina", that was once owned by my grandfather & 2 uncles. They were renting boats & selling bait, while my older brother & cousin (both of 10 years old), were helping customers carry their' things back to their' cars, while I, my sister & cousins who were younger were making mud pies. I remember PS47 grade school where I attended kindergarten, and St. Vigilus Catholic shool for 1st grade before leaving. I still have few relatives in Broad Channel, but most relatives eventually followed along to Delaware, and some to other parts of the country. If any of you remember us, and would like to drop a line, feel free to do so.

Yes, Billy Gill III used to write for The Forum newspaper and sent his columns to be posted here as well. He hasn't written any columns in over two years and people have been asking for them ever since. His columns are missed.

Hello to all..What a wonderful place this must be. I was born in Brooklyn 1945. I have lived in Connecticut for the last 50 years minus Airforce time away. My mother spoke of Broad Channel and was raised there as an only child. The folks are gone now and all we have are old photoes and Ancestry.com..I am trying to find where she lived in broad channel and would love to come visit..Her maiden name was Ruth Weiland..Help Thanks in advance..Ron Walker distdir@aol.com

The BCAC Shamrock Football & Cheerleading program will dedicate the 2005 season in memory of Larry Welsch. The dedication will take place this Sat Oct 1st 6 pm in between in the Peanut and Pee Wee game. Larry was a great guy and was very active in the BCAC not only as a player but as a coach also, there is not enough room here to write all the great things about Larry. Please come out Sat nite to BCAC Memorial field and honor a man who was a real great guy who passed away much to early. The entire Welsch Family will be on hand as we honor Larry and dedicate the 2005 Shamrock Football and Cheerleading season in his memory

I would like to echo what Marty Feeney just said about Larry Welsh. He was my Uncle, and I loved him very much. He was the kindest person, and ALWAYS willing to help anyone who needed him. He loved BC, and I can't think of one person in BC who didn't love him. Our family misses him so much, but we know we'll see him again someday. I wish I could be at the dedication, but I will be there in spirit.

my aunt clare wasa big part broad channel and she was a wonderful person like larry walse they had memoriel and my whole family went up and margert wagner made a speech about her because that was john hanning mom she did her best St. Virgilius School . She had the best parties. She also did a lot of other good things . she has agreat granddaughter now and her name is peyton if you know clare hanning please write back!!!!!!!!!!!

Billy your welcome. There right, this is Dave Arnemann's site and I agree he's doing a hell of a job. I do get a lot of credit sometimes for this site. i think the kids from St V should go to PS47 it has a good distict and wellfair kids can get hot lunch for free if you have problems the teachers will help you also you go on a feild trip once a month.
