Guestbook Entries for NOVEMBER 2005
Hey Dave, can't you do something about the "IDIOT' with the whacko messages---it's really annoying and scaring some people from leaving any messages. Whoever it is---is really sick.
I wish it were easy... They're an automated program with random IP's.
I'm setting up a new guestbook system to replace this one. It'll have filters for this sort of thing.
The whole site is suffering from them.
It was nice to find this website.I miss that Jamaica Bay fishing .I now enjoy fishing in the Gulf of mexico.Good to see pictures of the bay.I'ts been ten years now and I'm still adjusting to the heat in florida.
There was a party in Spring Hill, Florida last night and there was around twenty Broad Channel people there. We talked about how good this web-site is to keep in touch with the old nieghborhood. You're doing a great job, thanks.

Robert "Smitty" Maier was laid to rest saturday 11/12/05 He was a true Broad channel icon and will be missed greatly by those who knew him.Smtty`s fishing staion was the embodiment of the channel. In fact, there is not a true channelite who has not heard of, much less not been to Smitty`s at least once in their lives.I bought my first snapper pole, an old bamboo one, 40 years ago at Smitty`s.God Bless him .

I apologize if your entry in the Guestbook was removed. It's been hard to control the spam and sometimes legitimate entries get deleted in the process. I have a new Guestbook system ready to be tested and will prevent these problems in the future. Please RE-SIGN IN if your entry is missing this month.
--Thank you!
It's tough enough being a Jets fan these days but it's really tough down here in Florida surrounded by Tampa Bay Bucs fans. How many days to pitchers and catchers and baseball season?
There will be a fun filled pre-Turkey Day party at the Bayview Restaurant & Marina on Wed evening, come out and have a good time with some of your friends.
Also look for info on the New Years eve party under the heated tent!!!!! visit the website http://www.bcbayview.com
Just found this great site and want to say hi to all. I am a former Channelite 1954-1974. Went to St Virgilius too. I never forgot Sr. Daniel Marie and her trusty ruler either. I am so glad that St. V will continue.

Hey, this is a dynomite web site. Fond memories of B.C. There was and probably never will be another place like it on God's good earth...
I don't think it's just the beauty of B.C.- But the enduring spirit of the people...
God Bless Broad Channel

Hi Channelites!
I have had no response to my August note, so thought I'd write again. I am Claire WALDHEIM Olsen, and lived in BC from 1938-1954, at 46 W. 12 road. I graduated from SVS in 1946, and John Adams HS in 1950. Went on to Nursing School, St. Lukes in NYC,(1953). Moved out to LI to work at Meadowbrook Hospital, now NUMC, married Herb, and we have been in Massapequa for 51 years.
Had many great years growing up in BC and would love to hear from contemporaries.
Hi Claire. My Grandmother, Ginny Rossi Wagner, remembers you and your family. She's a few years older than you (she is a St. V. graduate, class of '40), but she distinctly remembers your mother shopping at her father's grocery store (Rossi's Premier Market) at 1005 Crossbay, which, by the way, is the same house I grew up in many years after the store closed. Anyway, after reading your post, I called to ask her if she remembered you, and she said, "The Waldheims from 12th Road? Sure I remember them!". She doesn't have a computer, but she asked me to say "Hello" for her. :)
